Slow Food UK’s Person of the Year 2024
I am so honoured to be Slow Food in the UK’s Person of the Year 2024.
This recognition, from an organisation that I admire deeply, strengthens my resolve to continue challenging the narrow corporate narratives that push ever more extreme technologies as silver-bullet solutions for our food system.
At a time when government policy has lost its way, we must all speak up louder and more clearly than ever. Through my years working at the intersection of food, farming and environmental protection, I’ve seen firsthand that market-based thinking and industrial solutions are not the answer.
True food security comes from respecting life, supporting traditional farming wisdom, protecting biodiversity and empowering local communities. Thank you for acknowledging the importance of speaking these truths to power – even when it is hard – and defending our right to choose how our food is grown and produced.
